Congratulations to the Heart Center!
5 Years and Going Strong!
It is hard to believe that five years ago greater Waterbury residents were afforded the good fortune of receiving advanced cardiac care right here in their own community hospitals. Thanks to the hard work, dedication and commitment of physicians, hospitals’ administration and clinical staff, the Heart Center can boast of several accomplishments since the Program began officially on July 18, 2005.
Check out our community outreach calendar to attend an event celebrating our 5th anniversary. Come out and celebrate with us!
- Over 800 hearts were saved with advanced cardiac procedures in the first year of operation
- Over 3200 PCI procedures have been performed since the Program was conceived
- Over 1000 open heart surgeries have been performed since the Program was conceived
- Over 400 emergency angioplasties have been performed with extraordinary timeliness for our most seriously effected cardiac patients
- Physicians and clinical staff have encouraged and cared for patients and their families making them feel safe and comfortable in a difficult time
- Clinical outcomes and patient satisfaction for our cardiac patients have been exceptional
- Many staff and community members provided meaningful and heart felt testimony before the Office of Health Care Access (OHCA) to keep the Heart Center in Waterbury
- Over 12,000 letters of support were sent to the Commissioner of OHCA to Keep our hearts in the right place!
- Patients have participated in cardiac rehab to return back to an active lifestyle.
- Over 900 community outreach events have been provided including education, health fairs and screenings.
- Patients and their families have been treated close to home in an environment with which they are comfortable, by physicians they know and trust.
Now that is something to celebrate! If you want to join in our celebration, please attend one of community events this month.
