Quality Cardiac Care

Rest assured, when you are treated at a Heart Center campus you are getting the best! In just five years, our interventional cardiologists have performed over 3,000 angioplasty procedures and our cardiac surgeons have performed over 1,000 open heart surgical procedures. Our expert physicians have decades of combined experience which means you and your family members are in caring and capable hands.

One measure of our quality is how quickly we treat you when you are having the most serious cardiac emergency (ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction. Because time is of the essence in a cardiac emergency, the quicker we can get you to the catheterization lab and open a blocked artery, the less damage your heart will suffer. The goal for treating these emergency cases is to do this in 90 minutes or less. Here in Waterbury, it takes us an average of 59 minutes! From the ambulance personnel to the physicians and staff in the emergency departments, to the cardiac team in the catheterization lab quick, appropriate treatment is our goal. We have improved our communication and procedures to assure that our cardiac patients are getting the care they need in the least amount of time possible. Because in a cardiac emergency, time is muscle.

Patients may be seen on an outpatient basis or an inpatient basis. Your physician can help you to determine the type of services you require for your medical needs. This means residents of Greater Waterbury communities choose which hospital they want to receive their cardiac care.

In addition to the clinical care offered, the Heart Center also provides Community Outreach and Education. This is a free service to local community groups and covers a wide range of topics including heart disease, cardiac risk factors identification, support group participation and featured speakers.
